Victoria answers as many frequently asked questions below
What is Life Coaching?
Life Coaching is a very good way for people to take control of what's not making them happy in life and changing it. The work is down to you, but it's your Life Coach's job to support you with the right tools and exercises to get there.
It involves pin pointing barriers and finding solutions through effective questioning, exercises and positive actions. Using SMART goals which are: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time-bound.
I prefer face to face coaching. Is this possible?
Absolutely! I have an office in SE13. All face to face coaching is conducted from there.
Is Coaching like Counselling?
No. The coaching process is in no way to be construed as psychological counselling or any type of therapy. The client enters into the coaching with the full understanding that they are responsible for making their own results.
With coaching we are working from where you are now to where you want to be. It is my job as your coach to help you understand where that is and to help you get there.
The coaching process helps you to discover any unhelpful limiting beliefs that may be getting in your way.
What are Limiting Beliefs?
Limiting beliefs are unhelpful or untrue thoughts that can have a negative impact towards how you view yourself or your surroundings.
Who is Life Coaching for?
Anyone and everyone. If you are at a crossroad in your life, a little lost, or even if you think you know what you want but you don't know where to start and could do with some support. I have a coach myself and it really helps me to refocus and clarify the thoughts in my head.
How do I book?
My website gives the option of buying through a secure payment system. Alternatively email me and I can arrange to send you an invoice and you can pay through BACS.
Do Life Coaches offer advice?
Generally No, unless agreed at the start of coaching. A coach works to support the client to recognise behaviour and make the most positive changes that are most likely to work for them. It is empowering for the individual to make the decisions rather than following advice that may not work for them.
How long does a coaching session last?
Either 60 or 90 minutes depending on your package. Coaching is by no means a quick fix. Making changes in your life takes time. Some people may only choose a few sessions, whilst for others regular weekly or monthly sessions over a long period of time, supports them on their day to day journey.
What did you do before Life Coaching?
I was a Freelance Makeup Artist for years and then worked my way up in a Photographic company, and became a Senior Manager for 10 years responsible for over 200 people. Although I enjoyed my job, for many years I began to feel something was missing, and this is when I decided to re-study to become a Life Coach. I have never looked back! It was one of the best decisions I ever made and hopefully is inspiring to others who want to make changes in their lives.
How do I know if you are the Life Coach for me?
I offer a no obligation 15 min phone call to each potential client. I also offer a 90 minute 'Discovery' session, which is an affordable and positive way to get to know me as your potential coach, as well as clarifying your overall goals.
Which is best? 60 or 90 minutes?
I offer either 4 sessions of 90 minutes over weeks, or 6 sessions of 60 minutes over 6 weeks. Some of my clients prefer having a longer session. However, both are beneficial and it may depend on your availability around your daily responsibilities.
Are our Coaching sessions Confidential?
Confidentiality is very important to me. As a coach I recognise that anything that my client shares with me is regarded as confidential, whether it is business or personal information. I undertake not to, at any time use or disclose any information the client shares with me during the sessions.
What is the difference between Life Coaching & Counselling?
Victoria explains below...
Do you coach International clients?
Absolutely!. I coach my international clients via Skype.
What are the 5 positives I can gain from having a Life Coach?
- You are making yourself accountable.
- You receive unconditional support.
- Coaching involves action based goal setting. You see results quickly.
- It keeps you motivated.
- It gives you structure and focus.
How many coaching sessions will I need?
You can have as many or as few as you like. As I coach mainly via Skype or telephone the sessions can easily fit around your schedule. Some people have a session once a week, some once a month. A Life Coach can be someone you hire for a monthly check in. This can all be agreed before we start.
Depending on what you want to work on I recommend 6-10 sessions to see results. It is worth considering a 'Discovery' session initially, which helps to clarify the areas of focus for our sessions. This allows you the full amount of sessions you book to get into the nitty gritty!.
I have also introduced the 'Pay as you go'.
It is more expensive, but gives you the freedom to not let finances get in the way!.
What is best; Skype, telephone or coaching in person?
This is completely down to the individual. Some people feel they gain more in person. Often others realise that Skype or the telephone is just as beneficial, and more accessible around work and other commitments.
What qualifications do you have?
I studied at The Coaching Academy over 2 years and graduated with a Diploma in Personal Performance Coaching - Grade Distinction. I feel that my life experience and emotional intelligence alongside my instincts compliment the coaching skills I have gained.
